Varsity Baseball: Village Christian Academy 2, East Bladen 1.

Fayetteville, NC - The East Bladen Varsity Baseball team kicked off their season on Tuesday evening, losing on the road in a tight contest against Village Christian Academy 2-1.

Jayce Hatcher got the start for Eagles and faced 17 batters, striking out 10 of them. Joseph Randolph faced 17 batters as well, striking out 13 for Village Christian Academy.

Both teams had a combined 5 hits on the game.

Tyler Eason knocked a single in the top of the second inning.

Ryan Rogers for VCA scored on a error in the bottom of the third to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead.

Davion Lewis blistered a ball into left field for a triple in the top of the 6th inning, and scored on a wild pitch to even the game at 1-1.

Joseph Randolph scored in the bottom of the 7th to seal the 2-1 win for the Vikings.

East Bladen starts the season 0-1 and will travel to West Brunswick on Friday.
