Shallotte, NC - East Bladen’s Jayce Hatcher was lights out on the mound Tuesday night, striking out 10 to lead the Eagles to a hard-fought 1-0 win over West Brunswick on the road.
Hatcher allowed just three hits and no runs across six and two-thirds innings, working around a pair of walks to keep the Trojans off the board.
It was a battle of pitching from start to finish. East Bladen’s arms combined for 10 strikeouts, while West Brunswick’s staff was equally sharp, striking out 11 Eagles.
The only run of the night came in the third inning when a West Brunswick error allowed East Bladen to scratch across what proved to be the game-winner.
Powell, Austin Inman, and Luka Dericco each picked up a hit for the Trojans, but West Brunswick couldn’t find the timely hit they needed against Hatcher and the Eagles’ pitching staff.
With the win, East Bladen improves to 1-2 on the young season.
They’ll be back in action Friday night when they host county rival West Bladen in what’s always a fun and competitive matchup.
