Middle School Girls Basketball: Tabor City 18, Tar Heel 10.

Tar Heel, NC - In a Waccamaw Middle 1A Conference matchup, the Tar Heel Lady Panthers put up a strong fight against Tabor City, with Deanna Davis leading the charge with 8 points.


1st Quarter (7-2)

The game started with Tabor City taking control early, opening the scoring with a free throw followed by a pair of quick baskets, jumping to a 5-0 lead.


Tar Heel found their first points when Deanna Davis drove hard to the basket for a lay-in, cutting the deficit to 5-2. However, Tabor City answered back with another inside bucket, finishing the quarter ahead 7-2.


2nd Quarter (10-2)

The second quarter was a defensive battle, but Tabor City managed to add to their lead with a lay-in and a free throw, stretching the score to 10-2.



3rd Quarter (12-6)

The Lady Panthers came out with more energy after halftime. Deanna Davis sparked momentum with a steal that she converted into a fast-break layup, bringing the score to 10-4.


Though Tabor City responded with a lay-in, Davis continued to fight on the boards, grabbing an offensive rebound and scoring on a putback to make it 12-6.


4th Quarter (18-10)

Tabor City widened the gap in the fourth, scoring six straight points through a pair of layups and free throws to go up 18-6.



Tar Heel didn’t back down, with Allyzon Sc. sinking two free throws to bring the score to 18-8. Deanna Davis capped off her strong night with another driving layup, cutting the deficit to 18-10 before the final buzzer.


Despite the loss, the Lady Panthers showed resilience, battling until the end. Tar Heel moves to a
