JV Girls Basketball: West Bladen 17, Red Springs 5

Bladenboro, NC – Vera Valentiner and Abigail Dew combined for 10 points Friday to lead West Bladen’s jayvee girls to a 15-7 Southeastern Athletic Conference victory over Red Springs.

Saniya Martin nailed a 3-point shot in the opening period, and Valentiner tossed in a basket as the Lady Knights grabbed a 5-3 lead.

Red Springs edged in front 6-5 at halftime, but Valentiner sank 2 free throws, and Zamariah Ward dropped in a basket as West rallied back front 9-6 after 3 periods.

Dew fired in a pair of baskets in the final quarter, and Valentiner added another basket as West pulled away for the win.

Valentiner topped the Lady Knight scoring with 6 points, and Dew finished with 4 points.
