Emereau Girls Soccer Battles to the Final Whistle in 3-2 Loss at Midway

Dunn, NC - The Emereau Charter School girls soccer team showed grit and determination in a hard-fought 3-2 loss against Midway on Wednesday evening.

Despite missing two key players, the Lady Aviators refused to back down and nearly mounted a late comeback that kept the crowd on edge until the final whistle.

The match kicked off promptly at 3:55 p.m., with both teams coming out aggressive. Midway struck first, finding the back of the net at the 32-minute mark to take a 1-0 lead. Just six minutes later, they added a second goal, and within three minutes, stretched their advantage to 3-0 in what felt like a flurry of momentum.

But Emereau didn’t hang their heads. Instead, they regrouped and dug deep.

At 4:47 p.m., Zoe Hall put Emereau on the board with a well-placed goal, capitalizing on a crisp assist from Jamison Raynor.

Just two minutes later, the pair flipped roles—Jamison scoring on a smooth finish with Zoe returning the favor with a perfectly timed assist. Suddenly, it was a one-goal game.

Time, however, wasn’t on the Lady Aviators’ side. Despite a surge of energy and several late pushes into the attacking third, Emereau couldn't find the equalizer before the final whistle sounded.

Head Coach Jordan Raynor praised her team’s resilience, saying, “We were missing two key players but still played aggressively, just ran out of time at the end!”

The Lady Aviators may not have walked away with a win, but they certainly earned respect for their heart, hustle, and refusal to quit.
