Elizabethtown, NC - The East Bladen JV baseball team battled through seven innings against a strong Whiteville squad but ultimately came up short in a 7-3 Waccamaw Conference contest.

Fox Sutton took the mound for East Bladen and carried the bulk of the pitching duties, showing poise and determination before giving way to Mason Smith, who faced the final batter of the game.

While Whiteville found ways to capitalize on their opportunities, the young Eagles showed flashes of promise on both sides of the ball.

At the plate, Omar Powell provided a spark for East Bladen, collecting a single and advancing all the way to third base during one of his three trips to the plate.

Chandler Wall had an active night, drawing two walks and reaching on an error, setting himself up to score one of East Bladen’s three runs. Fox Sutton also got on base after reaching on an error and later crossed the plate.

Brice Scott made the most of his chances, working a walk and coming around to score as well. Mason Smith added to the Eagles’ offensive presence with a walk of his own and showed hustle on the base paths, eventually reaching third base.

Jaxon Hair chipped in with a plate appearance that resulted in a walk, while Tyler Griffen delivered the lone extra-base hit of the night—a solid double that energized the East Bladen dugout.

Though the scoreboard didn’t fall in East Bladen’s favor, the team’s discipline at the plate and resilience on the mound showed continued growth. With each game, the Eagles gain valuable experience.

Whiteville’s Sidney Miller pitched five solid innings before turning the ball over to Tyler Rose, who closed things out in the final frame.

East Bladen will look to bounce back in their next outing against Whiteville on Wednesday on the road as they continue to develop chemistry and sharpen their play in conference action.
