Rocky Point, NC - After a tough 2-0 loss to Trask earlier in the week, East Bladen flipped the script in a big way Friday night, slugging their way to a 16-11 victory in a high-scoring Waccamaw Conference showdown.
“It’s about time. It’s about time our bats get going,” Head Coach James Ben Daly said with a grin, clearly proud of the offensive eruption his team delivered.
The Eagles came out swinging and never let up, racking up 17 hits on the night and showing the kind of team chemistry that’s been building over recent weeks.
With the win, East Bladen improves to 5-7 overall and moves to 4-4 in conference play—having won four of their last six, all critical matchups against league opponents.
Senior Debo Lewis was electric at the plate, setting the tone early with three runs scored and driving in three more on a trio of hits. He worked a walk as well, keeping pressure on Trask’s pitching throughout the night.
Right behind him, Tyler Eason was a constant presence on the base paths. Eason crossed the plate three times himself, added two hits, and chipped in an RBI while showing good plate discipline with a pair of walks.
Colton Daly was clutch in key moments, coming up with three hits and four RBIs, pushing runs across when the Eagles needed them most. Daly also walked twice, keeping the Trask defense on edge every time he stepped into the box.
Aiden Hargrove kept the momentum rolling with a perfect night at the plate—three hits in as many at-bats—and scored two runs while drawing a walk. Isaiah Lee added to the tally with a hit and an RBI, and though he only crossed the plate once, his presence in the lineup was a steadying force.
Zach Sholar delivered when it mattered most, recording three hits and knocking in four big runs. He stepped up in pressure situations and helped maintain East Bladen’s lead late in the game.
Jayce Hatcher worked deep into counts and made every at-bat count. With two hits, a run scored, and an RBI, he kept the rally alive through the middle innings and drew two key walks. Andrew Musslewhite also made solid contact at the plate, coming away with a pair of hits.
Easton Bostic proved valuable on both sides of the ball, scoring twice and driving in a run while drawing two walks to keep the Eagles’ offense rolling.
Even without an official at-bat, Braylon Cromartie made his presence known by scoring a run and drawing two walks, adding depth to an already potent lineup.
On the mound, the Eagles turned to a trio of arms to handle Trask’s offense. Cromartie got the start and gave East Bladen 1.2 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out one. Isaiah Lee followed with 2.1 solid innings, scattering two hits and striking out two.
But it was Easton Bostic who shut the door down the stretch, pitching three innings of dominant relief. Bostic surrendered just one hit and one earned run while striking out five, silencing any hopes of a late Trask comeback.
East Bladen now shifts its focus to another key conference matchup as they prepare to host West Columbus (6-5) on Monday.
With their bats heating up and momentum on their side, the Eagles are looking to keep climbing the Waccamaw standings—and if Friday night was any indication, they’re hitting their stride at just the right time.
