Bladenboro, NC - Bladenboro Middle School's softball team opened their 2025 season in dominant fashion Wednesday evening, taking down West Columbus 11-1 at home.
From the first pitch, Bladenboro came out swinging and never looked back. The Bulldogs plated five runs in the bottom of the first inning and built a comfortable lead that held strong through five innings of play.
Leadoff hitter Maycee Kinlaw sparked the offense and was a force at the plate and in the circle. She reached base four times, scored twice, knocked in a run, and drew three walks.
In the pitcher’s circle, Kinlaw was nearly unhittable, tossing five innings of one-hit softball while racking up 10 strikeouts. She allowed just one unearned run and one walk.
Adyson Carroll also played a key role offensively, scoring twice and drawing two walks. In the third inning, she grounded out but brought home a run, one of her two RBIs on the night.
Batting in the heart of the order, Caity McLaurin came through in multiple key moments. She delivered an RBI single in the first inning and later added a flyout that brought in a run in the fifth.
McLaurin finished the game with one hit, one run scored, and three RBIs.

Hadley Dove reached base with a walk and later came around to score in the first inning. Kaylee Fisher knocked in a run and scored one herself, contributing to the early momentum that set the tone for the game.
Kristen Singletary reached base on an error in the first and came around to score as Bladenboro built their early lead. Carley Rhodes showed patience at the plate, drawing two walks and scoring a run in the bottom of the first.
Kylee Davenport walked twice, drove in a run, and scored another as the Eagles kept the pressure on West Columbus. Riley Dowless also added to the scoring with a run in the fifth after drawing a walk earlier in the game.
Bladenboro improved to 1-0 on the young season. They’ll look to keep the momentum going when they travel to Central on Monday for their first road test.
